Physical symptoms of stress can include headaches, dizziness, poor appetite, tiredness and lack of sleep. It also creates a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol can have a negative impact on brain function resulting in mental health issues such as further worry, poor concentration, uncontrollable thoughts and difficulty in making decisions. These in turn can cause emotional symptoms like irritability, anxiety, and feeling overwhelmed.

Stress is inevitable, and if managed well can improve our motivation and performance. During stressful life events like seperating from life partners, moving house, preparing for a wedding, or at exam time, prioritising time to relax can be very beneficial.
